New Victorian Legislation 2021 – Act Now!

Recent changes to the Residential Tenancy Act introduced the Residential Tenancy Regulations 2021. These Regulations have identified new Safety Related Activities that are required to be regularly completed in residential rental properties. The Regulations have also identified Safety Devices required to be regularly maintained and tested for correct operation.

The Safety Related Activities are located at Schedule 3 of the Regulations. These require an electrical safety check of a property’s electrical installations, fittings and appliances every two years, a gas safety check of a property’s gas appliances, fixtures or fittings that use or supply gas every two years and smoke alarm safety check every year.
